CompTIA Server+ Certification exam is more commonly known as the SK0-002 test. Being conducted by CompTIA, this is one of the most sought after and tough exams to crack. As per the latest estimates, the software industry requires more than a million certified professionals by the end of 2011. The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) was established in the year 1982, as the Association of Better Computer Dealers, Inc. (ABCD). The group was formed by the core members of the Big Five Computer Czars of that time. The primary purpose of creating this formation was to standardize the IT practices worldwide. Certifications of various magnitude were thus, formulated for this purpose.
This particular exam has been specifically designed for the IT professionals working in the networking domain. This test is mainly for the Server Administrators, System Administrator and the Technicians who are handling the servers in the laboratories and enterprise level. This exam tests the compatibility and expertise level in the following:
1. Designing, Configuring and troubleshooting the server related technology
2. Data Recovery and Data Backup
3. Database system: Provisioning the best possible configuration
Although there are no official guidelines regarding the prerequisite for this test, it is advisable that the potential candidate for this test should have the A Level and Network Level Certifications prior of appearing for this exam.
There are a total of 80 questions in this exam, and a total of 90 minutes are allocated to attempt all the questions. A score of 615 on the scale of 100-900 is required to pass the certification.
